The Canadian, Calgary, Alberta, 1983 The Canadian was a transcontinental passenger train that was operated by the Canadian Pacific Railway and later by VIA Rail. Passenger trains played a crucial part in the land development of the Canadian Prairies. Regular transcontinental passenger service is no longer available through Calgary although the CPR has recently begun expensive tourist train service from Calgary and through parts of the Rockies. In the picture The Canadian is slowly passing through a washer in order to provide a clean view while passing through the mountains. This a sepia print originally made from a black and white negative. Contact me at: For more Art of Harry Palmer go to Home Page.
